1979

It was in 1979 that Joseph Helfrich founded Les Grands Chais de France, originally specialising in Cognac before diversifying to the wine trade in 1981

1982

Petersbach: First bottling line

1984

J.P. Chenet in its emblematic bottle, a creation from its first two grape varieties: a Cabernet Sauvignon du Pays d’Oc and a Blanc de Blancs des Côtes de Gascogne, which has become today the best selling brand of French wine.

1986

Jura: First vineyard establishment with the purchase of Compagnie des Grands Vins du Jura, now La Maison du Vigneron

1991

Alsace: Purchase of Arthur Metz ; one of the key players in the Alsatian vineyards and the leading producer of Crémant d’Alsace.

Beaujolais: Purchase of Quinson

1994

Bordeaux: Purchase of Louis Eschenauer, a long-established Bordeaux domain founded by a wine-grower from Alsace in 1921

1999

Creation of the 2nd French brand: Grand Sud: A range of single grape varieties from Southern France, the outcome of a long term partnership between our winemakers and the winegrowers of Languedoc and Gascogne, selected for their know-how.

2003

Languedoc: Purchase of Domaine de la Baume

2004

Loire: Establishment in the vineyards of the Nantes region and in Anjou

2006

Bordeaux: Purchase of Dulong Frères et Fils, a family establishment since 1873.

2007

Bordeaux: Purchase of Calvet enabling the Group to secure more resources and means to achieve its new objective: to become the leading brand of Bordeaux wines in the world.

2008

Establishment abroad with the founding of Weinkellerei Hechtsheim.

Construction of stacker cranes on our sites in Petersbach and Landiras

2009

Loire: Purchase of Château de Fesles, with the prestigious Bonnezeaux wine

2011

China: Founding of JIXIFU - Beijing (WOFE Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise)

2012

Loire: Purchase of Blanc Foussy in Touraine

2015

Burgundy: Purchase of Tresch Clerget, now François Martenot

2016

Alsace : Purchase of Klipfel
Burgundy : Purchase of Béjot Vins et Terroirs Group
Beaujolais : Purchase of Paul Sapin

2017

Purchase of Binderer St Ursula Weinkellerei
